The ECOPAS project promotes the harmonization of peri-urban dynamics aimed at promoting a participatory ecology of some of the peripheral municipalities of Dakar, which are highly critical as regards the management of water and environmental services.

Generale objective
Involving the citizens of the Dakar region in environmental governance and in inclusive and sustainable growth.

Specific objective
Strengthen and reconcile all the ecological efforts of the suburbs of the municipalities Sam Notaire, Ndiareme Limamoulaye, Whakhinane Lanzat Nimzatt et Yeumbeul Nord.

Activities
The project aims to strengthen the capacities of the actors in the water sector (decision makers and civil society) of the 4 common beneficiaries, in order to experiment a structured dialogue on one of the main challenges at local level: the realization of shared guidelines on local governance of resources water. The project activities are developed in the following phases:
  1. Strengthening of local skills on territorial governance, and in particular of water resources, through a distance training course on two modules on territorial governance and water governance;
  2. Promotion and facilitation of the process of strengthening local governance in terms of participation, inclusion, transparency and responsibility, through two on-site workshops dedicated to the implementation of a water governance model, revised in light of the training path followed.
The training material produced will be available for the community. The workshops consist of two work sessions of a total duration of 3 weeks, at the end of which the participants will have developed guidelines (recommendations) dedicated to participatory methodologies applied to water governance, with particular attention to the conservation of the "Filao", the impact of climate change and the agro-ecological transition.
