Hydroaid and the Politechnic of Turin collaborated for the realization of an advanced workshop called "Sanitation in Sub-Saharan Countries: the fundamental role of education" that involved experts from different Sub Saharian countries (including Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda) who developed a productive exchange of experiences and competences as related to the worldwide crucial issue of sanitation. Among the outcomes of the workshop emerged two prominent issues for development:
1. The need for strengthening the local capacities both at an education and professional level 2. The need for fostering the acquisition of legislative, monitoring and technical standards that will enable more efficient and coordinated actions for the implementation of the integrated resource management principles.
